Nitrogen (N) is a chemical element with atomic number 7. Its most common isotope is ¹⁴N (7 protons and 7 neutrons). At standard temperature and pressure (STP), nitrogen exists in the form of nitrogen gas (dinotrogen, N₂).

Together with hydrogen, nitrogen makes up the chemical compound Ammonia, NH₃, which is used as a fertilizer in agriculture.
